Machine Room-Less (MRL) elevators are a type of traction elevator, where their mechanical components are located within the elevator shaft, eliminating the need for a separate traditional machine room. This design saves significant space in the building, simplifies the construction process, and can be more energy-efficient thanks to features such as smaller gearless motors, regenerative power, and automatic shutdown of lighting and ventilation when not in operation. MRL elevators are suitable for low and mid-rise buildings.
